Here at GETYOURWOOD.COM we figured that everyone likes toys. Some people like nature and more people are going “GREEN” these days. We put them all together.

As a woodworker, no pun intended, I try to find a way to get as much out of my material as I can. I’m always saving small scraps of wood and using then when I can. I use my saw dust as mulch. What scraps I can’t use I give to people that use it as fire wood. I like to use found wood or recycle wood as often as I can. So one day I was looking at some branches that just weren’t straight enough to use them for a project. I was cutting them up for kindling and though you know what these look like?  They look like… hum. So after stripping the bark and lots of sanding they looked so beautiful. They were smooth and had a natural feel. So there getyourwood began.

Our product starts out as a hardwood branch. We section the wood to get the best shapes out of it. It gets debarked, has any voids filled with water based filler, and sanded allot. Then it gets finished with a food and people safe finish.  The final product is smooth, warm, and made from nature just like us.

As someone who works with wood the hardest part is tying not make things perfect. We decided to leave nature be. With our product there is no wondering where it originated.  Right now we are in a society that is more into highly manufactured items than handmade items. We buy plastics that are made to look like wood, wood that is ground up, glued into a block, and has a picture of wood glued to it. We get back to the roots. Almost literally with an item than is truly handmade.
